Matthew Lacaire details the ways that UCLA classes and clubs adapted to remote learning
The quality of remote learning in Russian has actually remained excellent in a virtual environment. The focus on immersion, especially in third year, ensures I'm still learning at the speed I did before.
My living situation did change; I stayed at home from last spring quarter to the beginning of winter quarter, when I promptly returned to Westwood.
My campus clubs are having some difficulties adapting, to be honest. A large complaint of mine (and that of my classmates) is that most engineering labs are
completely
closed with no exceptions; we can't construct things or collaborate in any meaningful way.
Remote learning is both simultaneously more difficult and easier than in-person classes. I appreciate the complete lack of necessity to walk to class (very convenient). Additionally, 24-hour exams, common in STEM, make studying less necessary. I think virtual learning is harder in that motivation and drive to learn material is somewhat lacking (this depends on the person, of course; but everyone I've talked to feels bored and or demotivated in some capacity at some point during virtual classes)
