The Institut des Amériques (IdA) is a French institute that promotes “Americanist” research, meaning studies that pertain to all three Americas: South, Central, and North. Headquartered in Paris, the IdA maintains a multidisciplinary network of researchers and universities throughout France and internationally. In order to foster transatlantic partnerships in academia, 12 international “hubs” of the IdA have been set up across the Americas, from Montevideo, Uruguay, to Montreal, Canada. The California Hub of the Institut des Amériques is hosted by the UCLA Latin American Institute. Since the hub's inauguration in 2015, two PhD candidates from French universities have served as Visiting Graduate Researchers.
