The Latin American Institute and its affiliated centers have developed partnerships with institutions of higher education in Latin America, as well as in Europe, to encourage research collaborations between Latin Americanist and Latin American scholars in the humanities, social sciences, and professional programs.
Our most long-lasting partnership has been with the Institut des Amériques (IdA), a consortium of institutions and scholars that facilitates French research on the Americas. The LAI is home to the Pôle California of the IdA, which serves as a focal point for French scholars interested in Southern California, especially its Latinx communities. The Pôle is currently headed by Alexandre Pires, a graduate student at the Université Paris City.
