Evidence-informed solutions are urgently needed to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises – the 21st-century’s most significant challenges. Multiple stressors threaten Amazonia's socio-ecological importance, highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to mitigate these threats. Effective engagement with policy, decision-makers, non-governmental organizations and local communities can improve research development and conservation planning success. This presentation analyzes stakeholder-based solutions to the main threats to Amazonian biodiversity.
Speaker:
James Moura Jr. is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol, UK—Synthesis for Policy in Amazonia (SynPAm). He is also an Associate Professor at the University for the International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusophony, Brazil, and a Visiting Professor at the Community, Indigenous, Liberation, and Ecopsychology Psychology Program at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
