Established in 1991, the UCLA Terasaki Center has been a platform for research on Japan. Our distinguished faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and the board of advisors have been contributing to the field of Japanese studies for over 20 years.

The Terasaki Center sponsors a vast array of events throughout the year. With its colloquium series, the Center brings academics from diverse fields to UCLA each year. Special workshops and annual conferences bring leading scholars to discuss topics relating to Japan.

Fang-Ru Lin

Asian Languages and Cultures

Fang-Ru Lin received her M.A. in Drama and Theatre from National Taiwan University and is now a Ph.D. candidate of Asian Languages and Cultures at UCLA. She is currently working on a dissertation that deals with the Japanese colonial theatre in Taiwan around the 1940s, and the subsequent cross-cultural interactions on performing arts between postwar Japan and postcolonial Taiwan. Her research interests include performance theory and intercultural theatre, Japan-Taiwan cultural interactions, and Empire and Postcolonial Studies.
