Raiyah Bint Al-Hussein

Raiyah bint Al-Hussein received her undergraduate degree in Japanese Studies from the University of Edinburgh in 2009. Upon graduation, she moved to Tokyo where she spent three years working in the field of human development. She then returned to academia and completed an MA in Japanese Literature at Columbia University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Japanese Literary and Cultural Studies at UCLA. Her research focuses upon the connection between the warrior as a symbolic figure and the construction of national identity.
