Shih-Wei Sun
Asian Languages and Cultures


Shih-Wei Sun is a PhD candidate of Asian Languages and Cultures Department who is currently conducting his field research in Japan, affiliated with Waseda University and supported by the Yanai Initiative research funding. He received his BA at National Taiwan University (Department of Japanese Language and Literature) and MA at Columbia University (EALAC). A native Chinese and near-native Japanese speaker, Shih-Wei’s research focuses on early premodern Japanese literature. His Master’s thesis mainly deals with the mythology of Kojiki and Nihon shoki, and he is currently working on his dissertation with regard to an early ninth century text, Nihon ryōiki.
