Jennifer Cullen has a PhD in Modern Japanese Literature from UCLA. She is the author of “A Comparative Study of Tenko: Sata Ineko and Miyamoto Yuriko” (2010) and “The Blank Page: The Canonization of Higuchi Ichiyo” (forthcoming). At present, she is working on a manuscript called “Writing Purity: The Rise of Virginity as a Literary Concern in Modern Japan.” She is currently teaching courses on Japanese Popular Culture and Film at Northeastern University, Tufts University, and MIT.
