Kirk Ken Kanesaka
Asian Languages and Cultures
Kirk Ken Kanesaka is a UCLA PhD Candidate in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures. From September 2013 to February 2015, he was Fulbright Scholar conducting his research at both Waseda University and Tokyo University. Currently, through the Aratabni Field Fellowship, he is finishing his research in Tokyo for his future dissertation. His interests lie in examining the intersection between Edo period popular fiction writer, Ihara Saikaku, and playwright Chikamatsu Monzaemon. In addition to the works of Saikaku and Chikamatsu, he also pursues his interests in the Kabiki Theatre.
