Wakako Suzuki is an assistant professor of Japanese at Bard College, specializing in Meiji literature, translation, women’s literature, and childhood studies. Her publications include “Youth” and “On the Present Reception of Yokomitsu’s Work in North America—From the Perspective of Shanghai Discussed in the Classroom,” both in Yokomichi Riichi Studies (11, 2013 and 13, 2015); a review of Idly Scribbling Rhymers: Poetry, Print and Community in Nineteenth-Century Japan in Nineteenth-Century Contexts: An Interdisciplinary Journal (41, no. 3, 2019 ); and “Writing Girls through Girls’ Magazines: (En) Gendering Childhood, 1895–1912” in East Asian Journal of Popular Culture (EAJPC 7, no.1, 2021).
