Mr. Yuji Tsutsumi

Yuji Tsutsumi is Chairman & CEO of Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel Co., Ltd. He began his career with Prince Hotel Co., Ltd. Serving as Executive Managing Director from 1967 to 1983. During this period, he established the basis of the present Prince Hotels chain and supervised its overseas expansion to Hawaii and Canada. At the same time, he served as Executive Director of Seibu Railway Co., Ltd. From 1974 to 1983.

In 1984 Yuji Tsutsumi joined the Saison Group and as a Board Director, he especially oversaw the development of its hotel-resort business including the Hotel Seiyo Ginza and other domestic hotels in Japan. In 1987, he headed the Saison acquisition team of InterContinental Hotels, and from 1988 to 1992 he served as Chairman, Managing Board of InterContinental Hotels group (IHG) in a joint venture with Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS).
He was appointed as Chairman of IHG, Pacific-Asia region in 1992 until 1998. During the past 12 years (1998 to 2011), he was President of Hospitality Network Corp, which manages & operates hotels including InterContinental Hotel Tokyo Bay.
He is working closely with various real estate investors’ funds and concentrates on restructuring hotel and resort businesses in Japan.

He was born in Tokyo 1942, and received a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1965.
At present, he is member of Board of Trustees of the Asian Cultural Council (a U.S. non-profit organization that has been promoting exchange in the arts between America and other Asian countries), which predecessor was the fund called John D. Rockefeller 3rd Fund. Also he serves as Advisor to the Saison Foundation (2012~), Trustee of Sezon Museum of Modern Art (2013~) and Trustee of Kunitachi Gakuen Elementary School (2014~).
He is a member of the Board of Visitors of the Anderson School (University of California Business School) and the Waialae Country Club since 1976.
