Japanese Speech Contest for World and Heritage Language High School Students高校生日本語スピーチコンテスト (日本語学習者・継承語学習者部門)
High school students of the Greater Los Angeles area are invited to showcase their Japanese speaking abilities alongside fellow students.
The contest is open to students of Japanese as a World Language (JWL) or Japanese as a Heritage Language (JHL).
Participant Qualifications
JWL students:
- At least 1 year experience in learning Japanese as a world language at a high school in the Greater Los Angeles area in the past 3 years.
- The student's Japanese teacher must apply as a school entry using the JWL application below.
JHL students:
- No longer than 3 years learning experience in the compulsory education system in Japan between 2018 and the present.
- Hoshuu-ko students, Japanese Heritage school students, and students who acquire the Japanese language skills at home are highly encouraged to apply.
- Students or parent/guardian can apply directly using the JHL application below.
Application
Application will open January 10 and close on February 15, 2024 or when we have 12 contestants for each division.

Parking is available in Parking Structure P4 (https://goo.gl/maps/gid9ymAKuMjHjvbt5).
Parking rates range from $4.00- $12.00 (1 - 3 hours) or $15.00 (all day).
