Established in 1991, the UCLA Terasaki Center has been a platform for research on Japan. Our distinguished faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and the board of advisors have been contributing to the field of Japanese studies for over 20 years.

The Terasaki Center sponsors a vast array of events throughout the year. With its colloquium series, the Center brings academics from diverse fields to UCLA each year. Special workshops and annual conferences bring leading scholars to discuss topics relating to Japan.

News — 2025 New Year's Party Cancelled

To All Friends of the UCLA Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies,

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that due to unforeseen circumstances we must cancel the 2025 UCLA Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies New Year's Party formerly scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2025. We are incredibly sorry for this last-minute change, but want to assure everyone that we are still planning on holding an event to bring our community together sometime in the coming year.

We will reach out again to all of you once we have a date for our next event, and we sincerely hope to see you all then. On behalf of the entire UCLA Terasaki Center, we wish you a wonderful start to the New Year!
