“My son is a good man ... at sleeping with his wives!” cracks Heda's aged mother, who harbors no illusions about her son. In Iran, polygamy isn't illegal, but it is proving to be irritating to Heda's four wives, who have to deal with a husband whose solution to marital discord is to bring home another bride. Nahid Persson's outrageous three-year portrait of this outspoken family is funny and infuriating, observing the women as they bicker among themselves, yet also support one another — and their 20 children.
