The Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles presents a Summer Seminar on Korean History and Culture for middle and high school teachers.

This four-day seminar, designed for twenty-five middle and high school public and private school teachers, offers a unique opportunity to learn about Korean history and culture.  The curriculum provides an understanding of Korean history, fosters an awareness of the rich Korean culture and makes available utstanding resources and lessons suitable for Asian studies, cultural studies, European history, United States history and world history classes.

Participants will learn about Korea from prominent scholars, view engaging and informative films, explore Koreatown, sample delicious food from its best restaurants, view exquisite art, experience a traditional tea ceremony and create art that reflects ancient tradition.  Participants will also become familiar with the Korean Cultural Center's extensive library and video collection, its galleries that exhibit traditional and modern art and its varied programs that include classes in the Korean language and exceptional cultural performances.

Seminar lecturers include Professors John Duncan (UCLA), Gi-Wook Shin (Stanford), Richard McBride (Pomona) and numerous prominent Korean Americans from the Los Angeles area.

Individuals who participate in the seminar will become not only more knowledgeable about Korea and its rich heritage, but will also be more effective in meeting the needs of the Korean American children they teach and their families.
