A Lasting Legacy

A double Bruin, Ralph J. Shapiro was a visionary leader whose deep-rooted loyalty to UCLA spanned more than six decades. Along with his wife Shirley and their children, Ralph served as a volunteer leader and provided generous philanthropic support across the campus, including to law, the health sciences, athletics, the arts, disability studies, public affairs and more.

The Shapiro Fountain and Shapiro Courtyard, as well as numerous endowed faculty chairs and student scholarships, stand as lasting testaments to the family’s many contributions and their belief in education as a force for good. Ralph’s legacy as a benefactor, volunteer and mentor continues to uplift the UCLA community, leaving an indelible mark on generations to come.
