CCLE is a system that provides course websites for the Humanities Division. The websites are used to make course content more available to students, to enhance classroom discussion, and to enrich the overall instructional environment with the interactive and multimedia possibilities of technology.
Getting Started:
The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) provides a system of course web sites called CCLE. Each quarter CCLE creates a web site for every undergraduate course in the Humanities Division. The course web sites are used to make course content more available to students, to enhance classroom discussion, and to enrich the overall instructional environment with the interactive and multimedia possibilities of technology. The undergraduate Instructional Enhancement Initiative funds the CCLE system.
CCLE is one of the main resources for instructors to connect with their students outside of class, but behind protected access. As an instructor, you can post or link to a variety of materials for your students to access in one convenient location: your syllabus, assignments, supplementary materials as text, images, audio and video. You can have an online discussion, create quizzes for your student to take, build a class-specific glossary, and collect student assignments. These are just some of the tools that are available. And this is all without needing to know how to build web pages!
As part of CCLE, CDH also staffs the Instructional Technology Consultant (ITC) program, a group of graduate students trained to help instructors use instructional technology and their course web sites. ITCs are assigned to the departments and programs of the Humanities Division to help faculty manage and enhance their on-line course materials with digital images, sound, and video. ITCs can make office calls for one-on-one instructor training or schedule special sessions for classes and workshops in the CDH labs.
