Overview
The Consortium for Advanced Study of Thai (CAST) announces the AST 2002 program, an intensive, eight-week language course at Chiang Mai University in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The program availability is contingent upon receipt of funding from the U.S. Department of Education. AST '02 will provide instruction at the advanced level in standard Thai; instructional staff are drawn from the Faculty of Humanities of CMU.
Fellowship applicants must be an educator or education administrator or must be students who are enrolled in or admitted to a U.S. college or university and, at the time of their participation in AST, have standing as a junior, senior or graduate student. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Student applicants must be planning a teaching career related to language or area studies. Applicants should be completing at least their second year of study of Thai. Students from CAST institutions and non-CAST institutions are invited to apply.

Program fees:
The program fee is $1,000. However, qualified students will receive AST fellowships that cover round-trip airfare to Chiang Mai and help defray housing and tuition expenses.
