Robert A. Mundell, recipient of the 1999 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, will speak on "Macroeconomic Stabilization Policies and Economic Development" when he delivers the 6th annual Arnold C. Harberger Distinguished Lecture on Economic Development.
WHAT:
Robert A. Mundell, recipient of the 1999 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, will speak on "Macroeconomic Stabilization Policies and Economic Development" when he delivers the 6th annual Arnold C. Harberger Distinguished Lecture on Economic Development.
WHO:
Mundell has been an adviser to a number of international agencies and organizations including the United Nations, the IMF, the World Bank, the government of Canada, several governments in Latin America and Europe, the Federal Reserve Board, and the United States Treasury. He formulated what became a standard international macroeconomics model and played a significant role in the founding of the euro. He has written more than 100 articles in scientific journals and numerous books. His most recent book is "The Euro as a Stabilizer in the International Monetary System."

BACKGROUND:
The Arnold C. Harberger Distinguished Lecture on Economic Development honors eminent scholar and teacher Al Harberger, and provides a forum for other outstanding scholars in international economics and policy to present their thoughts and research. It is sponsored by the Ronald W. Burkle Center for International Relations, the BCIR Leadership Circle, and International Studies and Overseas Programs (ISOP).
