Program Coordinators

Carleen Curley Velez is a lecturer in UCLA’s Writing Programs. She holds an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, both from UCLA. She has extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language and Technology for Language Teachers at UCLA, USC, and UC Berkeley. Before coming to UCLA, Carleen taught Business English and English conversation for 2 years in the Peace Corps in Mongolia. She also lived and studied in Japan for 3 years.

Kathryn Paul is the Assistant Director of the Center for World Languages at UCLA. The Center is a research and program development unit of the UCLA International Institute. Kathryn has been with the center for eleven years and manages numerous projects. She has worked closely with the Anderson School in the development of the former IMF program, the AIM program, beginning language classes at Anderson, as well as the IPO program.

Business Instructors

Nicolas Wawiluk is a doctoral student at the UCLA Anderson School of Management studying Marketing. He is currently interested in studying how linguistics, culture and creativity affect consumer behavior. Prior to coming to Anderson, Nicolas studied at the UCSD Rady School of Management and the Chinese University of Hong Kong for his MBA and at UC Irvine and Yonsei University prior to that. He has worked with small businesses across three continents in a variety of capacities.
