This will be a discussion on theory and literature, looking for texts and artistic materials that experiment with forms of collective cognition. The presentation will center on the assignments students produce collectively, in which they gathered interviews, film, photographs and text, and aims to discuss pedagogical practices at the graduate and undergraduate levels too. 

Speaker: Pedro Meira Monteiro is Professor of Spanish and Portuguese and Chair of the Depart. of Spanish and Portuguese at Princeton University. Working at the intersection of cultural history and literature, Professor Meira Monteiro complements his academic production by writing shorter texts for cultural magazines, blogs, and newspapers. He has published multiple books, including The Other Roots: Wandering Origins in Roots of Brazil and the Impasses of Modernity in Ibero-América (Notre Dame UP, 2017), The First Class: Transits of Brazilian Literature Abroad (Itau Cultural, 2014), Conta-gotas: Máximas & Reflexões (E-galáxia, 2016), Nós somos muitas: ensaios sobre crise, cultura e esperança (Relicario, 2022).
