Presenter:
Alexander Huezo employs both qualitative and geospatial methodologies to critically examine how spaces, places and identities are marginalized by debates and policies that transform local issues into global concerns. Conversely, his research also reveals how disenfranchised populations of the Global South challenge the displacement of their communities, cultures, and natural resources by invoking alternative conceptualizations of territoriality, ecology and global citizenry.
He earned his Master of Arts in Latin American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles and his PhD in Global and Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, San Diego.
