While on a trip to Tijuana, husband and wife Felix and Sol (Mexican rising stars Francisco Barreiro and Laura Caro) are put through the ringer when their pre-teen children, Sara and Adolfo, go missing overnight while hiking through a mountainside pockmarked with caves. To their parents' relief, they return the next day. But once reunited and back at home, the children's behavior suggests something sinister happened during their absence. Sol begins to investigate and uncovers strange, haunting legends about the mountains where they disappeared. Director Adrían García Bogliano plays on familiar horror tropes, infusing them with fresh perspective, unique style and a distinctive voice. Bogliano captures the vibe of psychological horror films from the ‘70s and ‘80s like Possession. His aesthetic choices make Here Comes the Devil one of the more arty supernatural horror films of recent years, one that will stay with you long after the screen has gone black.
