Ch’oe Yun (최윤) teaches French literature at Sŏgang University in Seoul.  She is the recipient of the 1992 Tongin Literature Prize for “The Gray Snowman” (Hoesaek nunsaram) and the 1994 Yi Sang Literature Prize for “The Last of Hanak’o” (Hanako nŭn ŏpta).  Her debut work, the novella “There a Petal Silently Falls,” was made into the  acclaimed film A Petal.  She is presented in translation in Wayfarer (Women in Translation), Modern Korean Fiction (Columbia University Press), The Last of Hanak’o (Jimoondang), and There a Petal Silently Falls: Stories by Ch’oe Yun (forthcoming from Columbia University Press).

Choe Su-ch’ŏl (최수철) was trained in French literature and teaches creative writing at Hanshin University, Seoul.  He was honored with the Yi Sang Literature Prize in 1993 for “Crucible of Ice” (Ŏrŭm ŭi togani) and the P’ara 21 Literature Prize in 2004 for “Conviction” (Hwakshin).  He is represented in translation by “Conviction,” to appear in March 2007 in the revised and expanded edition of Land of Exile: Contemporary Korean Fiction (M.E. Sharpe).

Bruce Fulton is the co-translator of several volumes of modern Korean fiction and occupies the Young-Bin Min Chair in Korean Literature and Literary Translation in the Department of Asian Studies, University of British Columbia.
