Exhibition - Spheres of Time: Digital Paintings by Rodolfo Samonte

The Arts & Books Gallery presents "Spheres of Time," a solo exhibition of digital paintings by Los Angeles-based artist Rodolfo Samonte, on view from September 19 to November 7, 2003.

"Spheres of Time" is a series of large-scale digital paintings on canvas showcasing Samonte's latest work and his recent fascination - and a major shift from traditional media - with the computer and the seemingly infinite ways of creating art with this new tool. Samonte fills his canvasses with the pulsating energy of deliriously exploding or imploding worlds of myriad forms and shapes, in lambent colors and tonalities, all controlled and subsumed in spheres within squares, then finally resting and formalized in a structured grid.

This is Samonte's nineteenth solo exhition and his first in the Los Angeles area. Samonte has shown his work internationally having exhibited his paintings, serigraphs and paperwork in galleries and museums in the Philippines, Japan, South America, Europe and the United States.

The Arts & Books Gallery exhibits emerging California, as well as international artists in the field of painting, sculpture, digital art and photography.  The gallery also has a bookstore specializing in art books, modern first editions and other collectible books.
