Please be aware that eligibility to participate includes:
* Undergraduate students pursuing a major under the International Institute
* Graduate students pursuing a master’s degree under the International Institute
* Completion of all degree requirements & graduation in 23F or 24W, or degree candidate for 24S or 24Su
Given space limitations, International Institute minors are not eligible to participate, and should seek inclusion in the commencement activities of their major department, instead.
Students participating in the International Institute Commencement Ceremony must RSVP for the event (see below) and will be issued their own electronic ticket which will allow entry to Royce Hall.
Guests are required to have their own electronic tickets for the event, except for infants who will not be occupying a seat of their own. Guest tickets must be ordered by the graduating student (see below).
RSVP & TICKET ORDERING: Friday, May 10, 2024 at 12:00pm – Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:59pm
During this time period, students can order up to twelve (12) guest tickets. The first four (4) tickets are complimentary. Any additional tickets beyond the 4 free ones will incur a $20.00 charge per ticket ordered (to be charged through BruinBill). Note that refunds are not available. Students will be billed for guest tickets ordered whether or not the tickets are used.
Undergraduate students intending to participate in the International Institute Commencement Ceremony can RSVP (for themselves, and will be issued a ticket so that they can enter Royce Hall) and order tickets (for their guests) through MyUCLA during the time period listed above. If you have any problem accessing the online Commencement RSVP & Ticket Ordering system from MyUCLA, please contact the College Commencement Office.
Graduate students pursuing a degree through the International Institute can RSVP (for themselves, and will be issued a ticket so that they can enter Royce Hall) and place their guest ticket order via their Academic Counselor, and should do so during the time period listed above.
Additional Guest Tickets:
Additional guest ticket requests (beyond those ordered during the above time period) will be granted pending availability, and can be requested as of Friday, May 24, 2024 at 12:00pm…please do not inquire about additional tickets before then!
To request additional guest tickets, please contact your International Institute Academic Counselor, state your name and UID#, and indicate how many additional guest tickets you would like to order. Recall that refunds are not available and students will be billed for all guest tickets ordered whether or not the tickets are used, so please be clear in requesting ADDITIONAL guest tickets desired, on top of any already ordered.
PARKING PERMITS:
As a convenience, you may also pre-order parking permits for commencement events for you or your guests via MyUCLA as of May 1. For full details and instructions on Commencement Parking, please visit UCLA Transportation.
STUDENT & GUEST TICKET DISTRIBUTION: Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 8:00am -Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 5:00pm
The Central Ticket Office (CTO) will be distributing both student and guest tickets electronically via email from cto@tickets.ucla.edu. Please check that your email account is accurate on MyUCLA, and check your email account’s SPAM folder frequently, to be sure you do not overlook any important messages.
Both students and their guests will be required to have a ticket to enter Royce Hall!
ACADEMIC REGALIA
All students are expected to wear academic regalia to the International Institute Commencement Ceremony, and can order a tassel, cap and gown (plus optional sash) through Graduation Etc., located at the UCLA Store (Ackerman Union, A-Level, 310.825.2587).
Recommended regalia:
For undergraduates: Grad Etc Bachelor Unit
For graduate students: Master Unit Rental link (select College of Letters & Science)
Sashes, etc., are optional, and can also be ordered through the Graduation Etc. website.
CEREMONY DETAILS
Students should arrive at Royce Hall no later than 5:45pm wearing academic regalia, and with the electronic ticket for themselves readily available so that they can enter Royce Hall.
Once inside Royce, students should proceed to the Registration Table which will be located in the West Lobby. There, you will pick up your name card that will be used to announce your participation in the ceremony and line up as directed. Note that no rehearsal will be held. Because of this, it is very important that you arrive at Royce Hall on time so that you can be directed to the proper location and given more detailed information on the ceremony. Note: Students should leave bags/purses with their guests as they will not be allowed to process into Royce Hall Auditorium with them. IMPORTANT: Students who arrive after the processional takes place will not be allowed to participate, so please be sure to show up on time!
Guests should also expect to arrive no later than 5:45pm and should find seats for themselves inside of Royce Hall. As seating is general admission only, please encourage your guests to arrive early with easy access to their electronic tickets. **In order to ease day-of anxiety, it is highly recommended that you distribute your guest tickets PRIOR to commencement day!** Note: balloons are not allowed in Royce Hall Auditorium, so please let your guests know not to bring them!
Professional photographers will be taking individual photos of each student. These photos will be available for purchase from GradImages shortly after the ceremony. Students who preregister with GradImages prior to the commencement ceremony (select UCLA, then UCLA International Institute) can receive a 20% discount on their order. While GradImages will be taking the official photos of the International Institute Commencement Ceremony, there is no obligation to purchase any photograph from them, as ordering pictures is completely optional. Guests may take their own photos as well, but will be asked to remain in their seats and will not be allowed in the aisles during the ceremony.
The International Institute Commencement Ceremony is expected to run through 8:00pm (approx.), with a small reception to follow in Royce Quad.
COMMENCEMENT PROGRAM
A commencement program will be produced and distributed to all who have RSVP'd for the International Institute Commencement Ceremony. We ask that you share this with your guests ahead of the ceremony so that they can learn more about the academic programs offered by the International Institute, get a preview of our Keynote Speaker, and so on. NOTE: The list of names includes only degree recipients from this past Fall or Winter, or degree candidates for this Spring or Summer and who do not have a privacy restriction! Students with a degree term outside of this, or with a privacy restriction, will not be included in this year’s program, but are welcome to attend the ceremony. Whether or not you are listed in the program or attend commencement ceremonies does not in any way affect the actual conferring of the degree!
