Celebrated at U.S. colleges nationwide, the week offers an opportunity to discover the breadth of international educational and cultural resources at UCLA. Our university is not only the top public university in the nation, but is committed to expanding its local and global impact.

UCLA International Institute, November 8, 2024UCLA International Institute is proud to announce a campus celebration of International Education Week (IEW) 2024 on November 18–22.

Rated the top public university in the United States for eight years in a row by U.S. News & World Report, UCLA has a “glocal” vision that connects the world with local Los Angeles communities, many of which maintain vibrant links with countries around the world. The research conducted on our campus, moreover, impacts people here in Los Angeles and around the world.

A joint initiative of the U.S. departments of state and education, International Education Week is commemorated each fall on college campuses throughout the United States. The week highlights the value of international education for U.S. students — whether acquired through study abroad, language study, international research or internationally oriented coursework and internships — as well as the significant contributions to education and research made by students and scholars from all over the world.

Today more than ever, knowledge of foreign languages, world regions and intercultural communication skills are needed to address such urgent global challenges as geopolitical conflicts, accelerating climate change, socioeconomic inequity, systemic racism and global health crises.

With support from 21 campus sponsors, International Education Week offers UCLA students the opportunity to expand their perspectives across borders and disciplines, our faculty an occasion to share their international research and the campus community and general public a chance to discover the many global resources of the nation’s top public university.

From musical and cultural performances to martial arts classes to lectures on global issues to international career events, there are activities for everyone to enjoy. Browse the IEW website and join us in the activities scheduled for International Education Week!
