A delegation of UCLA leaders is in South America this week, forging ties with alumni networks, government officials and university counterparts.

During the week of March 14–18, 2016, a delegation of UCLA leaders visited South America to participate in alumni events and forge relationships with government officials, ambassadors, universities and funding agencies in Bogotá (Colombia), Santiago (Chile) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).

On March 16, they met with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, who was elected for a second time in 2014. Bachelet previously served as president from 2010 through 2013. The country's foreign minister, Heraldo Muñoz, previously served as Chile’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Brazil and the Organization of American States.
