The International Institute is dedicated to international scholarship and to dialogue across the diverse perspectives that a global vision demands, a vision that is all the more important in the face of both new and historical struggles and a changing global world order. We condemn Russia’s invasion of a sovereign nation, and we extend our concern to all in Ukraine and elsewhere who have been affected by this - and all other - wars. We, along with other units on campus, encourage and are here to assist the UCLA community to learn more about this and other global crises, investigate their linkages and histories, and engage with others in order to take informed stances that use knowledge to better the world.
In the coming period, we will be organizing informational sessions about the unfolding situation, its historical roots, and its impacts both near and far. Please check our events calendar in the period ahead for talks and information.
The Center for European and Russian Studies (CERS) is organizing a program that will provide support for students and scholars affected by the conflict. Here’s the
link to provide support. Students Affairs at UCLA has reached out directly to impacted students with available resources, including the
Counseling and Psychological Services center and the
Resilience in your Student Experience center (RISE). Faculty and staff who would like support can reach out to Jorge Cherbosque and Nan Levine-Mann of the
Staff & Faculty Counseling Center (SFCC).
