Michel Peraldi is an anthropologist, director of research at the National Center for Scientific Research (Paris, France), and director of the CADIS Centre for Sociological Analysis and Intervention (Paris, France). He specializes on migration dynamics in the Mediterranean basin; informal trade routes between Europe and the Maghreb; and gray economies and urban anthropology of cities such as Marseilles, Istanbul, Naples, and Tangier.
