Description:

This free two-day virtual K-12 teacher professional development workshop will focus on youth participation in the democracy movements in South Korea and Myanmar to align with theme of "Movements in Democracy" in world history curriculum under the CA History Social Science Framework. This PD workshop aims to provide area studies content and pedagogy training to K-12 teachers in California to help with the classroom instruction of these themes. The workshop will give educators an opportunity to hear lectures from scholars to gain more historical knowledge, work with model lessons developed by teacher leaders, and receive training for designing lessons to align with the HSS Framework.

Eligibility & Requirements:

  • No cost and open to all K-12 teachers.
  • Teachers must complete reading assignments and attend all three days for the entire duration of the workshop.
  • Teachers must fill out a survey evaluating the workshop at the end of Day 2.
