The Holy Shrines of Biblical Prophets in Iraq: Revered and Visited by Jews, Christians, and Muslims for Centuries (Now Destroyed or Threatened by ISIS)

Southern and Northern Iraq had several holy shrines traditionally ascribed to Biblical Prophets, some known from Qur’an as well, Such as Nabi Yunis (Prophet Jonah), Nabi Hasqel (Ezekiel), which were visited byJews especially during the Holiday of Shavu’ot, known in Arabic as ‘id al-Ziyara ‘Pilgrimage Holiday.’ Professor Sabar has personally visited some of these shrines as a child with his family.
