The fellowship supports UCLA undergraduate students in any discipline who wish to pursue an intensive summer Arabic language course at UCLA or elsewhere. Summer intensive training has been proven to enhance progress in language learning.
A committee of Arabic language professors carries out the competitive selection process. Applications are accepted from students who have completed at least one prior year of Arabic language training at UCLA, with preference to students who will be in their second or intermediate year of language study during the period of the award. Evaluation of the applications will also take into account the relevance of Arabic language training to the applicant’s major field of study.

The Center gratefully acknowledges the generosity of the anonymous donor who initiated this fellowship program. Support for language training is an important part of the Center’s mission and we are gratified to be able to offer such excellent fellowships.
