Burcu Bugu is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Promise Armenian Institute and the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research explores the complex dynamics of identity and belonging among Alevized Armenians in Dersim, a mountainous enclave situated between the southern tip of Armenian highlands and upper Mesopotamian steppes. Dr. Bugu is a medical and sociocultural anthropologist who earned her PhD in Anthropology from UCLA and holds an MA in Clinical Psychology from Istanbul Bilgi University. Her interdisciplinary work employs a multi-methodological approach, offering nuanced insights into the lived experiences of marginalized communities.
