Sona Tajiryan's research focuses on an early modern Armenian family firm from New Julfa and their involvement in the luxury trade of diamonds and gems between the Indian Subcontinent and the Mediterranean. Sona got her Ph.D. in History from UCLA and her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from Yerevan State University. Tajiryan was a Promise Armenian Institute postdoctoral fellow (2020-2021). She was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Gemological Institute of America (2022-2024) and is currently Associate Director of Development at the American University of Armenia.
