Azerbaijan launched new military attacks on the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
In the strongest possible terms, the UCLA Promise Armenian Institute and the UCLA Promise Institute for Human Rights condemn today’s (September 19, 2023) military attacks by Azerbaijan on the Armenian enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh, coming nearly 300 days after their blockade of the Lachin corridor connecting Armenia with NK/A and the resulting humanitarian crisis. The blockade has been described by experts as a run-up to a genocide against the indigenous Armenian population, and now, today, the world is witnessing the accomplishment of that goal by Azerbaijan, threatening to destroy a region populated by Armenians for over two millennia.
