The Summer Teacher Workshops provide needed professional development opportunities to create suitable curriculum and materials for HL learners. The professional development workshop is open to Instructors of all languages from K-16 programs and community schools.

Heritage Language Education: A New Field Emerging

Focuses on issues at the forefront of heritage language teaching and research. Its state-of-the-art presentation will make this volume a standard reference book for investigators, teachers, and students.

Online Heritage Language Teaching Certificate

An online course for language instructors who teach HL students that provides an in-depth understanding of the needs, both linguistic and affective, of HL students, and detail pedagogical practices that ongoing research and classroom experience indicate best meet those needs.

Lead with Languages

A national campaign, spearheaded by ACTFL, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of language proficiency in the U.S. and motivating Americans to become competent in other languages and cultures so they can be ready to compete and succeed in a global economy.

This page contains curricula that were created by HL instructors who have participated in our summer teacher workshops. These projects are course curricula that incorporate principles of HL pedagogy and which have been placed into practice in real-world classrooms.

Southeast Asian Language Pedagogy Symposia

Given the large number of Southeast Asian HL Learners, the Center will collaborate with the joint-Berkeley-UCLA Center for Southeast Asian Studies and the UCLA Asia Pacific Center to host two language pedagogy workshops focused on that region.
