Dr. Naor received his Ph.D. in History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has been a Visiting Professor of Israel Studies at Tulane University; York University in Toronto, Canada; and San Diego State University. He has held several fellowships including the Ray D. Wolfe Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Toronto and a fellowship at the Centre for Military and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary. Dr. Naor's research interests focus on the social, political and military history of the Jewish community in Palestine and the State of Israel. His book: Social Mobilization in the Arab-Israeli War of 1948: On the Israeli Home Front was published in 2013 by Routledge Press. His current research deals with Israeli Post-War Reconstruction and State Building in the early 1950s and on the Middle Eastern Jews and Jewish-Arab Relations in Mandate Palestine. Dr. Naor will be teaching in the UCLA Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures.
