Former Israeli Foreign Minister, Shlomo Ben-Ami, will provide an insider's account of his experience at the 2000 Camp David Summit and an analysis of the attempted peace talks that have occurred since, ultimately arguing that a two-state solution for the Israeli–Palestinian conflict is no longer feasible.

About the Speaker
Shlomo Ben-Ami participated in the July 2000 Camp David Summit as Israel's Foreign Minister with President Clinton, Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. He subsequently led the Israeli negotiating team in all phases of the peace process down to the last-ditch attempt to save the peace at Taba in January 2001. Never before had Israelis and Palestinians been so close to reaching a peace accord. Ben-Ami had previously served in the Knesset — where he was a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee — and as Israel's Minister of Public Security. Currently, he serves as Vice-President of the Toledo International Center for Peace, of which he is co-founder, and as a Professor Emeritus at Tel Aviv University. He is the author of, among other books, Scars of War, Wounds of Peace (Oxford, 2015) and Prophets without Honor: The 2000 Camp David Summit and the End of the Two-State Solution (Oxford, 2022).
