The Roslyn and Abner Goldstine Undergraduate Fellowship

The UCLA Y&S Nazarian Center for Israel Studies is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic students with an interest in Israel Studies to serve as Roslyn and Abner Goldstine Undergraduate Fellows in AY 2024–25. Fellowships will begin in Fall 2024 and may continue for up to one full academic year. Four undergraduate fellowships are available. Students from all backgrounds and academic majors/concentrations are encouraged to apply.
 
Program Overview: The Goldstine Undergraduate Fellowship is an opportunity for students to gain professional work experience, improve their organizational and research skills, and learn more about modern Israel outside the classroom. Undergraduate fellows will make meaningful contributions to the activities, programs, and conferences of the Nazarian Center for Israel Studies. Fellows receive a stipend of $500 each quarter. Fellows beginning in Fall 2024 may continue into Winter and Spring 2025 if they are meeting their responsibilities as fellows.  
 
Responsibilities:
The program requires students be available for 8 hours per week, on average, including a one-hour staff meeting each week. A work schedule will be determined at the start of each quarter in consideration of academic commitments. As a fellow, you may be working remotely and/or in the Nazarian Center office to support the Center’s staff with various tasks and short- and long-term projects. These may include:

  • Event promotion and facilitation
  • Outreach to university departments, centers, and colleagues
  • Collaboration with student organizations
  • Research assistance
  • Video/audio transcript editing
Fellows work under the supervision and guidance of Center staff. Note: Fellows may be asked to help occasionally in the evenings if there is a Center event.
 
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Focused and well-organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines
  • Results-oriented with excellent attention to detail, and a desire to learn and take on new challenges
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Language proficiency in Hebrew and/or Arabic is a plus, but is not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms and YouTube
  • Please list any student groups you are involved with on your application

 
Eligibility:
The Goldstine Undergraduate Fellowship is open to current UCLA undergraduate students. Students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA to apply. Preference is given to juniors and seniors.
