Korean media products or Korean Content, all together called Hallyu, have come to develop global popularity. "Hallyu" is a contemporary Korean term meaning "Korean Wave." In the Asian market, Hallyu is already the most popular group of foreign media products, and it is becoming increasingly more popular than ever in the Americas and Europe.
In 2020, K-pop band BTS appeared on the Tonight Show, and the film Parasite won the Academy Award. In this lecture, Mr. Cho will address some data on how Korean Content is being consumed in the U.S. market, along with some examples of how Korean media companies are making efforts to further spread Hallyu. He will also discuss the meaning behind and the future prospects of the spread of Korean Content across the globe.
