In Korea, there are vehement arguments to abolish the juvenile law and lower the punishing age. This is due to the fact that juvenile crimes are becoming as brutal as the crimes of their adult counterparts. Korea amended the School Violence Prevention Law, in 2012, by benchmarking the Anti-Bullying Law of the United States. In this lecture, Ms. Park will talk about her research on school violence and punishment cases of juvenile criminals, the role of court in the United States, and compare them to those of Korea. She hopes that her studies on the Juvenile Law and Protective Disposition of the United States will help advance Juvenile Law in Korea.
