This paper examines the funerary practices of the Goryeo bureaucratic class from death to the final laying to rest, and how the practices changed. I will examine in detail the complete funerary process from the final moments before death, place of death, wake, funeral (cremation), enshrinement of ashes into a Buddhist temple, and final laying to rest. Additionally, I will examine how the timeline of the wake and funeral changed and look at causes for the shift.
