The Center for Korean Studies will be selecting nine undergraduate students to participate in the Korea University International Summer Campus program every summer with Tuition Waiver, Housing Fee Waiver for the six-week long program, and a small stipend.

Korea University International Summer Campus (KU ISC) provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about Korea through academic and cultural immersion during the summer months. It offers one semester’s load of work condensed into six weeks, during which renowned academics teach both domestic and international students. There are more than 120 course offerings covering a wide range of subjects pertaining to international issues, with a particular emphasis on Business, Economics, Humanities, Sociology, Fine Art, International Relations, Science, and Korean Studies.

*Please note that this program is not affiliated with UC Education Abroad Program (UC EAP). This particular program is facilitated by UCLA Center for Korean Studies. Students may apply directly to the KU ISC Program without the above benefits. More information can be found at: http://isc.korea.ac.kr.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Q: Are Korea University’s course credits transferable to UCLA?

A: If you would like to transfer the credits to fulfill a GE requirement, you will need to contact the College Academic Counseling Office (http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/counseling/counselors.html). We suggest you select a list of courses you would like to take, and ask for a pre-approval before you start the KU ISC Program. If you would like to transfer the credits to fulfill your major/minor requirement, please contact your departmental counselor to see how this can be done. Usually, you will have to file a petition to receive credit from a foreign institution.

  2. Q: How many courses can I take?

A: You are required to take at least two (2) courses, but you can take up to three (3).

  3. Q: I’d like to take a language course at Korea University. How would I know which level to enroll in?

A: You will be asked to take a language placement exam on the first day so that they can determine which course you should be enrolling in.

  4. Q: Is it okay for me to arrive late to start the program and/or leave early?

A: If you have any scheduling conflict with the timeline of this program, we recommend that you apply at another time. Because this is a six-week program, most professors will not allow students to start late or leave early. If you do not complete the program in its entirety, you may not receive credit.

  5. Q: I will be graduating in spring before this program begins. Can I still apply?

A: No, you will have to be actively enrolled as a UCLA undergraduate throughout the entire duration of the KU ISC Program.  Only the students who are returning to UCLA for Fall after ISC Program as an undergraduate are eligible to apply. If you are expected to graduate after completing Fall, you are eligible to apply.

  6. Q: I would like to stay in Korea for the entire summer. Can I stay in the dorm before the program begins/after the program ends?

A: No, the six-week Housing Fee Waiver is only for the duration of the program, and may not be extended.
