ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Leon Wieseltier (b June 14, 1952) is an American writer, critic, and magazine editor. Since 1983 he has been the literary editor of The New Republic. Wieseltier was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended Columbia University, Oxford University, and Harvard University.

Wieseltier has published several fictional and non-fictional books including Kaddish, a National Book Award finalist in 2000, and Against Identity, a collection of thoughts about the modern notion of identity. During Wieseltier’s tenure as literary editor of The New Republic, many of his signed and unsigned writings have appeared in the magazine.

Wieseltier served on the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq.


ADMISSION
There are 300 seats for general admission. Limited standing room will be available, as well as seats for people with disabilities or special needs. We CANNOT hold seats and we will not be able to make special accommodations.

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT AND ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. ATTRITION IS EXPECTED AND THERE WILL BE AMPLE STAND-BY SEATING AVAILABLE ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.

  • Printed Confirmation and Photo ID are required for Admission.  All guests will be checked against our registration list at the door.


PARKING AND DIRECTIONS
Parking will be available in Lots 4 and 5 (disabled only). Enter on Westwood Plaza from Sunset Boulevard. Pay-by-Space parking spaces are available and all day parking passes for $ 10, cash or credit.


GUIDELINES FOR ALL GUESTS

  • Arrive early, doors open at 5:30 pm
  • Parking is available in Lots 4 and 5 (disabled only), $10.
  • Admission will be handled on a first available basis
  • No bulky video equipment or flash photography permitted
  • No food or beverages permitted inside Korn Convocation Hall
  • All vacant seats will be filled at 5:50 pm
