An award of $1000 is given to "the best paper or article of the year on intercultural or international relations." Originality of the contribution, whether theoretical or empirical, will be given special weight. Entries can be either unpublished manuscripts, in press papers or books, or papers or books published no more than 18 months prior to the submission deadline. The competition is open to nonmembers, as well as members of SPSSI. Graduate students are especially urged to submit papers.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Congressional Internship Program

The purpose of the Congressional Internship Program (CIP) is to expose young Latinos to the legislative process and to strengthen their professional and leadership skills, ultimately promoting the presence of Latinos on Capitol Hill and in Federal Agencies. The program provides Native Americans and Alaska Natives with an insider's view of the federal government. The ten-week internship in Washington, D.C., places students in Senate and House offices, committees, Cabinet departments and the White House, where they are able to observe government decision-making processes first-hand. Internships are awarded to Native Americans and Alaska Natives who are college juniors or seniors, recent graduates from tribal or four-year colleges, or graduate or law students and have demonstrated an interest in fields related to tribal public policy, such as tribal governance, tribal law, Native American education, Native American health, Native American justice, natural resource protection, cultural preservation and revitalization, and Native American economic development.

The Multicultural Undergraduate Internships at the Getty are intended for outstanding students who are members of groups currently underrepresented in museum professions and fields related to the visual arts: individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduates who either reside or attend college in Los Angeles County and will have completed at least one semester of college. Candidates are sought from all areas of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated a previous commitment to the visual arts. Internships provide training and work experience in areas such as conservation, library collections, publications, museum education, curatorship, grants administration, public programs, site operations, and information technology.

The Summer Undergraduate Internship at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), Monterey Institute of International Studies is a paid internship. The Supreme Court Internship Program offers a compelling study experience and valuable exposure to work in a professional environment. Special enrichment opportunities include attending Court sessions as well as seminars organized by the Supreme Court Fellows.
