In 2010-11, UCLA will celebrate 50 years of ethnomusicology with the theme "Worlds of Music at UCLA: 50 Years of Ethnomusicology." As part of the yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, the UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology is organizing a symposium in which several UCLA ethnomusicology graduates and non-alumni will make brief presentations on six topics: intellectual and institutional history, geographical regions, UCLA methods (bi-musicality, melograph, archiving, and publications), systematic musicology, professional worlds of ethnomusicologists, and UCLA and the world. In addition to the symposium, an evening dinner is also scheduled.
Southeast Asia speakers include David Harnish and Judy Mitoma.
