Leading Chinese Political Activists Discuss "Constitutionalism in China?" February 21

Four distinguished Chinese political activists will discuss the challenges associated with the creation of a constitutional government in China. The panelists will include:

  • Wang Juntao, a leading figure in the China Democracy Movement of 1989;
  • Wang Dan, a central figure in the Tiananmen demonstrations of that year;
  • Yu Haocheng, a distinguished legal scholar and a director of the organization Human Rights in China; and
  • Liu Junning, a well-known scholar from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences blacklisted in 1999 for his writings on constitutionalism.

The meeting will be chaired by Richard Baum, profesor of Political Science and Director of the Asia Institute.
