American Academy of Arts and Sciences
The American Academy of Arts and Sciences will launch a Visiting Scholar Center (VSC) at its House in Cambridge in Fall 2002. The Center will stimulate and support research conducted by promising younger scholars and practitioners. It will foster interaction with Academy Fellows on scholarly and public policy issues. Participants may focus their research on one of the three core areas currently being explored by the Academy's members: Science, Technology, and Global Security, Social Policy and Education, and Humanities and Culture. A number of special themes have been developed for the 2002-03 year.
Special Themes for 2002-03: Universal Basic and Secondary Education (UBASE) and The Rule of Law in Space. For further information on these themes, please contact Martin Malin at (617) 576-5002 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fellowships are open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The Ph.D. or equivalent professional training must have been completed within the last 10 years, although exceptional circumstances will be taken into consideration.
The annual stipend provided by the Visiting Scholars Center will be in the range of $35,000 for postdocs. Scholars will receive office space, computer services, library privileges, and assistance in locating housing. Health benefits can be arranged.
