Highlights from a concert in Los Angeles featuring artists and music from Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
Performed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on July 31, 2008 and co-sponsored by UCLA Center for Near Eastern Studies and LACMA. Directed, filmed and edited by Erik Friedl. The standing-room-only event at the Bing Theater featured vocalists Fella Oudani, Hassan Tawil, Raphael Skouri, and Henry Azra leading the ensemble of singers and musicians who showcased Arab-Andalusian melodies from Granada, the uplifting vocals of Jewish songs from across the Maghreb, and the pulsating rhythms of Algerian Ra’i that swept around the world and found a home in Los Angeles.
